BETRA: Smart Retail Checkout
Designing interfaces and dashboards for automated cashier-less physical stores.
Project Overview
BETRA provides cashier-less automated shopping units. Using advanced AI cameras, the store detects when a customer picks up a product, adds it to their digital shopping cart, and auto-generates a receipt upon exit, eliminating cashiers and paper waste.
The Challenge
The hardware requires a super-responsive dashboard for store owners to monitor inventory levels, live shoppers, transaction receipts, and sensor triggers. The interface had to handle streaming data points without freezing the owner's monitor or dropping frame rate.
Our Engineering Contribution
Our team designed the shop owner dashboard panel and client shopping cart synchronization layer:
- Implemented low-latency data sockets to render live shelf pickups.
- Built a lightweight dashboard rendering thousands of transactions with high memory efficiency.
- Designed the mobile checkout app that delivers digital receipts in under 1 second.
